Arabic Language 101
Speaking & Conversation for Beginners
Colloquial Arabic or Ammiyya (Levantine Dialect)
Welcome to our iconic Arabic program, the first of its kind on the East Coast!
“قال عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه تعلموا العربية فإنها من دينكم
Learn the Arabic language, for learning it is a part of your religion.”
Is it your dream to understand & speak Arabic fluently? You can achieve this with us at Hibr Institute.
Has it been your dream to learn and speak the ancient & sacred language of Arabic? Are you concerned about your children losing their Arabic language heritage? The Arabic language is what unites the diverse Muslim nations. Whether you want to learn Arabic to speak fluently, or understand the Qur’an and hadith, or Arabic literature, or converse in your pilgrimage, tourism, and business travels throughout the vast Middle East & North Africa, through this class, you will be able to embark on your journey with confidence. You will gain conversational Arabic skills to ensure smooth travel, successful networking, and new friendships across the vast Arab world & beyond!
Even the most experienced Arabic students will notice something in their first cab ride, or grocery store transaction, the locals don’t typically use MSA/Fusha. In other words, having a background in the local dialect is one of the best ways for students to maximize their daily interaction and communication, whether traveling, studying, or working abroad.
This course is designed to help students master local, everyday language so they feel more integrated into their regional surroundings and can live, work, or socialize with native Arab speakers in any setting. Ammiyya is recognized as a necessary component of any student’s progression toward the coveted native-like language proficiency.
The beauty of Arabic is that it is not limited to just the Arab world. You can often see the influence that Arabic has had on your everyday life: Algebra, for instance, is something everyone has had to take at one point in their life, but did you know that it was invented by Arab mathematicians during medieval times? Moreover, everyday products like coffee, cotton, lemon, and jasmine originate from the Arab world. We can even see its influence in our vocabulary, with words like lemon from laymoon, and California, aka, Land of the Caliph or Khalifa. Additionally, languages influenced by Arabic include Persian, Turkish, Kurdish, Spanish, Swahili, Urdu, and others.
This class has a 100% success rate for those who commit to it. Our curriculum challenges and exceeds Arabic language courses taught at major Ivy League universities across the United States. In as little as three months, even our non-Arab students with zero Arabic background can confidently speak and converse in Arabic. Hibr Institute’s pedagogy and methodology are designed to make the Arabic language easy and accessible to anyone, regardless of age or background.
